I’m 31 years old and was born and raised on the west coast in the beautiful city of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. I started 'Freya Photography' when I was 25, but I've been behind the lens since I was 15. Although photography wasn't my original plan, it has been a natural and seamless progression over the last several years.

I've always had an innate love of creativity. Growing up, I experimented with different art forms and mediums—painting, drawing, dance—anything I could do to create and let my imagination become tangible. I still remember the magic of watching my first photograph develop in the tiny darkroom of my high school. That moment fascinated me and opened up a whole new world.

I feel everything in life very deeply, especially when it comes to my work. I'm a sucker for nostalgia—that wistful affection for the past that a photo can evoke. There’s something about capturing those fleeting moments that resonates with me and inspires me to keep creating. There's nothing I cherish more than bringing joy to others by sharing love and connections through my art.

When I'm not busy capturing love stories, you can usually find me wandering with a camera in hand. One of my favourite parts of exploring new places is not knowing what I’ll find along the way. Some of my favourite photos ever captured came from spontaneous moments. I’m always drawn to the little things, and am constantly seeking out these kind of details — a field full of flowers, the perfect little cabin tucked away in the mountains, or the way the clouds hug the trees. These in-between and spontaneous moments always inspire me. I love that everyone has the ability to see the world through photography in such different ways and how it allows you to capture a fading moment into something that will last forever.

When I capture your love story, I look for the soft touches & meaningful glances between you and your loved ones, your mothers hands helping you into your jewelry, your father's tears when he sees you in your dress for the first time, the way your lover looks at you when you're not looking. When you hire me as your photographer, these are the special moments that you are investing in to keep for a lifetime, and that is not a task that I take lightly - I'm invested in you too.

I strive to create images that will stand the test of time and will be forever treasured many decades from now. My ideal client doesn’t settle for typical and is eager to cross the boundaries of event photography to share the friendliest and memorable experience together. There’s nothing else I could wish for professionally, than connecting with like-minded people around the globe and revealing their love for one another as art.

LOVE NOTES

"she has a talent for making everyone feel comfortable and at home"

My partner and I recently had a shoot with Kristen and were blown away by how incredible the experience was. In addition to her outstanding photography skills, she also has a talent for making everyone feel comfortable and at home during the shoot; from laughing and joking and hyping us up to the curated music playlists, no detail is overlooked. Kristen’s passion for what she does is clearly evident and makes for an amazing experience in front of the camera. If you’re looking for someone to shoot your wedding, or otherwise capture you and/or your love on camera, look no further! I can’t wait to shoot with Kristen again in the future
